Frontpage

          Frontpage is the latest and advance easy web design application. Through the frontpage easily and fastly we can create  the webpage and edit the page. It has advance controls as well as many script supporting features.

There are many versions of frontpage like front page 2000, 2003. we study the latest version 2003.

Getting start:-

To open the front page :-

type “Frontpg” in run.

Or

(choose startmenu/program/microsoft office/Microsoft frontpage 2003.)

create new web sites(web folder):-

after opened the frontpage:-

1. go to file menu(ctrl+n).

2. choose the “one page web site—-) from the palate.

3. click on browse.

4. click on location.

5. create the folder and name it.

6. click on ok and click on open from the open dialog box.

7.Click on ok from the web temeplate dialog box.

The web site is created where the one index page is default created. open it and work on it.

Editing existing page:-

1.right click on it and click on open with .

2. choose “Microsoft front page…”.

Or

open front page then open that page in the front page design time.

Or

Choose the “microsoft front page” to edit in the page open condition in the internet explorer.

Views of frontpage:-

We can work in front page in the following views(which are in the buttom of the page):-

1.Design view.

2.split view.

3.code view.

4.preview.

1.Design view:-

In this view we design the page using different desining tools.

2.split view:-

In this view we can design the page as well as view the html codes together.

3.Code veiw:-

In this view code (Html) of the designed objects is automatically written by the system. Where the scripts are written for the dynamic page.

4.Preview:-

In this view we can view the page designed to test the design that how the page is seen in the browser.

But some of the elements may not function in a such condition we need to view the page in the internet explorer (browser) .

Viewing the page in IE

1. Go to file menu.

2. click on “Preview in browser”.

3. choose any browser size.

Note:-The default browser is “MS Internet explorer” (F12).

Text formatting :-

Use formatting tools bar for:-

changing size, font name, bullet and numbering, color, highlight the text etc.

For more text formatting use the format menu.

Arranging paragraph:-

To arrange the paragraph of your page :-

a. For setting alignment.

b. For before or after space of paragraph,

c. For line spacing

Using paragraph:-

select the page or set previously then Go to format menu and choose paragraph.

Shortcut key for setting paragraph:-

Ctrl+L-left alignment

Ctrl+r-right alignment

Ctrl+e-center alignment

Ctrl+j-justify alignment

Tab key-for tab order.

Bullets and Numbering:-

We can use this format’s menu for extra and more bullets and numbering more than the standard tool bars.

There are following tabs:-

1 Pictures bullets.

2 Plain bullets.

3 Number bullets.

4 Others.

Pictures bullets:-

We can use pictures in the form of bullets for what we like to make the bullets.

For it:-

a. check on specify pictures.

b. Click on browse button.

c. Select the picture and open.

Plain bullets:-

We can use this kind of bullets only for the simple plain bullets symbol.

Number bullets:-

Number bullets are used for the number bullets.

Start at :-used for starting bullet.

Others:-

We can use it when we have used already bullets ,to change the bullets at once one kinds of bullets or to make normal.

Border and shadding:-

We use this for border for the page and to fill that bordered area.

Border:-

Use it for page border and set the different kinds of border.

Shadding:-

Use it for filling the bordered area.Use “Fill-foreground” for filling font’s colors and “background” for background colors.

Use pattern for fill the image background filling.

Hyperlink:-

Linking others objects (page, image or others file) from the one location is hyperlink.

To use hyperlink in frontpage use the following steps:-

1. select the text or picture from where you are going to link.

2. for hyperlink go to insert menu /right click on the selected object or press ctrl+k.

3. select the object(page,picture,video etc) for linking.

4. click on ok.

Removing hyperlink:-

a. Select the hyperlinked text or picture.

b. Press ctrl+k.

c. Select the linking object and click on remove hyperlink.

Behaviors:-

It is used for extra effects on events instead of scripting.

Steps:-

a. format menu.

b. Behaviors.

c. Insert choose any functions.

Set text for status bar:-

It is used for showing text in the taskbar on the load events.

a. Click on insert.

b. Click on set text for status bar.

c. Type the text in the input box.

d. Save and view.

Layers:-

It is used to set the objects in the proper place.

a. Click on layers.

B .Create the layers in the necessary place.

c.Place the layers where you need it.

You can set the layers’s borders,shadding etc properties too.

Theme:-

It is used for setting different kinds of themes as a background.

Steps:-

a. use the existing themes or.

b. To create new”Click on create new”.

Page transition:-

It is used to give the extra transiton effect while page open,exits .

Events:-choose from here events when transiton effects to show.

Duration:-it is used for giving transation loading time.

Transition effects:-from here we can give the transiton effects like blend,boxin,box out.

Note:-You should use the page transition effect in the existing page seperately.

Insert menu:-

Horizontal line:-

Click on it to insert the horizontal line.

Use its property for customizing its size and colors etc.

For proprty double click or right click on it and get property.

Date and time:-

Using it we can insert the date and time.

For customizing use its propety.

Symbol:-

Use this propety for inserting differnt kinds of symbols.

Picture:-

Using this menu we can insert the pictures in our page.There are different kinds of methods to insert the differnt kinds of pictures.

From click art:-

We can insert the clip art pictures from this options.

Autoshape/new drawing/word art:-

From these options we can create the new pictures pages and group to new single picutres.

From file:-

We can insert the pictures that are saved in our file from this method.

Managing pictures’ positions:- and pictures’ size :-

For this use the pictures’ property :-

a.Double click or right click on picture and get the picture’s property.

Or

Get the position from the format menu.

Picture property:-

Wrapping style:-

There are three style -none,left,right-they set the picture’s position in the text.

Layout:-

Using this we can set the alignment, hspace, vspace,border thickness etc.

Size:-

Using this we can define the picture’s size.

Saving pictures:-

Pictures’s are saved always in the default folder “image” .

Steps:-

1.press ctrl+s or icon.

2.Click on change folder.

3.open your pages image default folder.

4.Create the new folder for storing new pictures.

5.Click on save/ok .

New photo Gallary:-

Using this options we can create the photogallary with multiple pictures.

Steps:-

1. Go to insert menu.

2. click on pictures.

3. click on “New photo Gallary”.

4. There are two tab buttons:-

· Add.

· Layout.

· Add:-

It is used to add new pictures:-

A) . Click on add.

B) .Click on picture from files.

C) Select the pictures from the open dialog box.

D) For edit use edit button,to move up and down use “move up” and “down button”. As well as maintain the size of the pictures.

E) Choose the “overide and use—–”options for writing captions and descriptions for the pictures.

Edit:-

Using this options we can edit the picture i.e. you can reset the size,crop,rotate.

For next or previous pictures,click on next or previous button.

Click on ok at last.

· Layout:-

We use the layout to show the images in the different layouts.

There are following layouts:-

A .Horizontal layout:-Displays the images horizontallay .you can set the numbers for per rows of pictures.

B .Montague layout:-It show the images in the pattern like a collage.

c.slide show:- In this layout the images are shown in the slide show view.

d.Vertical layout:-In this layout the images are shown in the vertical layout.

5.At last click on ok.

Editing photogalary:-

To modify the existing photogallary,you can do the following steps:-

a.right click and click on “new photogallary property” or

b.Double click on the gallary.

c.Edit the gallary and click on ok.

Example:-

Interactive Button:-

It is used to create the interactive button’s nevigation key.It easily links the pages as well as we can cutomize the buttons too.

Getting:-

1.Go to insert menu.

2.Click on interactive button.

There are three tab buttons,using them we can work with the interactive buttons.

a. Button

b. Font

c. Image

Button:-

Through this tab we can insert the button as well as link the pages.

>select button style for the diffent styles.

>write down text for the button’s caption in the text box..

>click on “browse” for link.

>Click on ok at last.

Font:-

It is used to customize the button text,color,size ,hover color,alignment etc.

Image:-

It is used to resize the button’s sizes.

Editing buttons:-

To edit the exiting buttons:-

a. Double click on buttons.

b. Edit as you want.

Inserting flash movie:-

We can insert the flash movie in web through the frontpage .

To insert the flash movie:-

1. Go to insert menu.

2. Click on picture.

3. click on “movie in flash format.”

4. select the movie from the file.

5. customize its sizes.

Property of flash movie:-

You can customize its size,color etc using property box.

Quality:-Through this we can give the quality for display like high,low etc.

Scale:-From this we can set the scale like ,no border,exat fit etc.

Background color:-you can give the background color of the flash movie.

Alignment:-you can set the right,left etc alignment within the flash movie.

F ile:-

Using this command we can insert the text or others elements only from the Others page like html page,microsoft word excel etc .This way it does not open the page but uses the elements only(contain only).

Steps:-

a. Go to insert menu.

b. Click on file.

c. Select the pages or word or text files.

d. Click on ok.

Marquee:-

To insert marquee we have to follow the following points:-

1.Go to insert menu and open the web component or click on web component icon in the standard tool bar.

2.click on “Marquee”.

3.click on finish.

4.Write down the text in “text ” text box.

5.set the properties and click on ok.

Picture marquee:-

You need to write the marquee code in the code window becuase there is not option for picture marquee in marquee properites window.

For this:-

a.Insert the picture.

b.open the code window.

c.write down the marquee code, make the picuture tag in.

Page properties:-

For customizing the page we need to use the page properites.

Getting:-

a.right click.

b.click on “page proprties.”

There are following tabs:-

General:-

It is used for the following purposes:-

Location:-it displays the location of the page exits.

Title:-It is used to write the name of page title.

Bacground sound:-

We can insert the background sound using this option.

Steps:-

a. click on browse.

b. Select the sound file.

c. Click on ok.

d. If necessary choose the “loop” for repeat for the certain time and “forever” for automatically playing until the page open.

Formatting:-

We can use this tab for the following purposes:-

Background:-

It is used for inserting background picture in the page.

Steps:-

a. click on browse.

b. Select the picture.

c. Click on ok.

To delete

Select the picture’s location and delete.

Color:-

Using this we can fill the backgroud and font colors as well as hyperlink colors .

Hyperlink:show the hyperlink colors.

Visited hyperlink:-once the hyperlink is opened, this color is seen.

Active hyperlink:-when we click on hyperlink text this text is seen.

Advance:-

This tab is used for page’s margin arrange ment.

We can arrange the following margin:-

Right,left,top,buttom.

Setting left,right,top margin we can set the elements in the exact place.

Enable hyperlink rollover effects:-

Using this we can create the rollover effects when hyperlink.

Steps:-

a. check on “enable hyperlink rollover effects”.

b. Click on rollover style button.

c. Set the properties.

d. Click on ok.

Table:-

Table is combination of rows(Horizontal line) and column(Vertical line).Its smallest unit is called table.

We use table in web for storing elements for the proper arrangement in the proper locations.

Inserting table:-

To insert the table :-

1. Click on table menu(alt+a).

2. Click on insert.

3. click on table.

Or

You can create the table from standard menu also defining columns.

Size:-

You can insert the table rows and columns number from this options.

Cell padding and spacing:-

They set the table’s cell space and cell’s height and width.Make zero.

Table border:-It sets the table’s border.You can make zero for web use.

Table background:-

It sets the background of the table with color or with pictures.

Some important things while working with table:-

a. Design the page in your copy and create the column of the table as many as you need.

b. Make the table border and cell padding and spacing zero.

c. Arrange the page margin.

d. Insert new table in the cell to insert new elements in the cell.

e. Arrange the paragraph while working with paragraph.

f. While working with cell ,you should open the cell property.

Frame:-

The frame is used to create the multiple pages within the same window.It shows the pages in the single window just scrolling we can view all pages.

The frame page is created as below :-

a. open file menu>new.

b. Click on more page templates from the palate.

c. Click on Frame pages button.

d. Choose the sample and click on ok.

Now you can see the following two buttons:-

a. Initial button.

If we click it ,this button inserts the pages that was made already.

b. New pages.

If we click on it ,this button creates the new pages.

Note:-

a. you should save all the pages in the frames.

b. Make the main frame page into index deleting exiting index page.

c. Again edit the pages from index page.

Frame properties:-

Name:-Name of the page.

Initial page:-Get the pages from this option by clicking browse button and if do not need delete the paths.

Title:-write the title for the page.

Frame size and margin:-arrange the frame size and margin.

Resizeable in browser:-

If we check the frame can resized and uncheck then not.

Show scroll bar:-

Never:-Do not show scroll bar.

If needed:-shows the scroll bar if the page’s elements are greater than the page’s size.

Always:-show always.

Frame page button:-

Frame spacing:-create the space between the frame with line and border.

Show border:-if check shows and if unckeck do not show.

Deleting and spliting frame:-

To delete and split the fram do as following:-

a. Go to frame menu.

b. Choose the options.

Hyperlink in the frame:-

1. select the hyperlinker.

2. click on Target frame button.

3. choose the page.

4. click on ok.
